All gardeners love herbs! Generally easy to grow, they are perfect plants for borders or containers of any shape or size. Many herbs are perennials, requiring simple pruning with a pair of kitchen scissors to retain their good looks. Tender varieties, such as Basil, will thrive in warm, sheltered spots, like a sunny kitchen window sill, conservatory or glasshouse.
Herbs are mostly grown for culinary use, adding flavour to food dishes. A bunch of herbs picked fresh from the garden looks great on the kitchen table and if you want to store your favourite varieties for use later on, herbs are easy to dry. The Riverside ‘top ten’ herbs are Mint, Thyme, Oregano, Basil, Chives, Sage, Rosemary, Coriander, Parsley and Dill. During the summer months we stock these and many, many more in lots of different varieties – at least ten different Thymes for starters!
