Poinsettia. Still the most popular plant at Christmas, the Poinsettia will give you weeks, if not months of festive colour. Traditionally red, but more recently available in a wider range of colours such as cream, pink, salmon and variegated forms it has soft emerald-green leaves and large, vibrant flowers (technically bracts). It's a good choice for a warmer room, away from any cold draughts. It will thrive as long as it's well lit, so place it near a window.
