The original tall growing Japanese Maple. It will grow into a lovely broad, open specimen tree with elegantly divided leaves, that reliably turn to brilliant flaming oranges and scarlets in the autumn. It also produces good crops of attractive seeds. There are any number of beautiful cultivars with different coloured leaves often changing through the growing season. Small enough to be grown in a large pot.
