Christmas is coming…
With Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night out of the way, it’s full tilt to Christmas and preparations are well underway at Riverside. Following the success last year of the wicker deer – our very own ‘Monarch of the Glen’ – we have commissioned Trevor Leat, one of the foremost creators of willow sculptures in the UK to create a wicker snowman using stripped white willow. The snowman will form the centrepiece of outdoor plants display where our renowned collection of Christmas trees will be on sale very soon.
As is tradition here, we stock a great choice of trees, nearly 1000 in all, in a range of heights and shapes - Nordmann and Fraser Firs (both ‘no needle drop’) and Norway Spruce (the much-loved, highly-scented traditional Christmas tree). All our trees are sustainably-grown in the UK. Take time choosing your tree and we will then net it up for you to take away, or simply ask us to deliver for a nominal charge. There’s a free Lucky Dip for children with every tree bought. We also have a range of five different pot-grown Christmas trees which can be planted or potted on for use in coming years.
In our Shop we have a wonderful range of Christmas gifts: ‘glass and glitter’, baubles and trinkets for your tree; tools and gadgets of all shapes and sizes for gardeners of all ages; gloves and kneelers; bird boxes, fancy feeders and food to tempt local species. Hedgehog houses – we’ve got these too. Garden vouchers make great gifts. We sell our own Riverside vouchers as well as the national ones.
Our range of houseplants is second to none (well, in Bristol anyway…) and we have a wonderful selection all year round. Midwinter favourites will be on sale from early December – Azaleas, Christmas Cacti, Citrus, Cyclamen, Poinsettias and the like.
If you are looking for a classic wreath of winter foliage, we’ve got it. You will even find a sprig or two of mistletoe.
